Interview with Damien Diaz (Quicktime-Video)
Damien Diaz is one of the most headstrong dancer and choreographer who are working today. At the Leipzig Opera in good old europe, he was the Principal Dancer under the leadership of Uwe Scholz. His sources of inspiration were the previous named Uwe Scholz, the dancers Marina Otto, Nurejew and some others.

Futhermore he talks about his great choreography to the music of Sakamoto from the year 1998. Rightnow he is dancing with the Ensemble “Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo” and is on stage in Tokyo, Istanbul and London among other cities. Next year he and his company will dance in Berlin. If there is any time left he continued to study new choreographies with the “California Riverside Ballet” in Los Angeles.

In our interview he talks about his dancing experience, about genders and the devil in Hollywood. Furthermore he explains his secrets about dance and choreography. We met him in London and catched a little chat between his numerous shows (130 per year, only Pina Bausch is supposedly more often on stage).

Narcissism sucks. Better get treatment fast.

shouldn’t say “narcissism” when you so obviously don’t know the definition of the word. Narcissism is the affectation of a persona that is not your own in order to cause people to treat you in a certain way.
Damien is a sweet guy, and on a personal level he’s very much NOT a narcissist.
Perhaps “doesn’t matter” should get treatment for that “labeling-people-I-don’t-personally-know” complex.

Well no, someone with a Narcissistic Personality Disorder shows “a pervasive pattern of grandiosity, need for admiration, and a lack of empathy”. Appearing to be “sweet” is part and parcel of it.
Believe me, I have known him in person for nearly a decade. Just take a look at how he makes fun of his anorexic colleague in the video (behind her back of course, and after “amicably” and deviously greeting her) and how he talks about Uwe Scholz who he claims to have “left” when in fact Uwe sacked him. Damien does indeed have lovely sides to him but this video mainly shows his worst. Whoever thought that those sides of him should appear first on Google: Please be aware that these minutes might ruin his reputation – for either they do not do him justice as he is now, or they tell a really sad story.

He is my uncle. Im a dancer too. I hope to go to california this summer and train with him. My mom says he is exactly the same, he did not change. She said he has the same sense of humor and is still hillarious. GO UNCLE DAMIEN!
